What a fun week! My mom, Grandma Gibbs, came to Vegas for a conference, but ended up only going for a day and spending the rest of the week with Kaeden (aka us) and what a great time we've had!! She was so excited to see him and how much he's changed. Last time she saw him he was only a week old.
Kaeden of course charmed her with his big, cheeky grin and she's been playing with him all week.
Last night (Friday) was a GNO - girl's nite out! We went to the Venetian
and ate at the cutest little restaurant that was set up like we were out on the sidewalk. Such good Italian food!
We thought about a gondola ride, but stopped for some Godiva chocolate instead.
Then we hit the show - Blue Man Group! They were awesome! We had awesome seats right behind the orchestra pit, and the Blue Men were walking all around us, right up close. Grandma loved the show, and as we were leaving the Blue Men came out for a meet and greet and so we got some shots.
And you know Grandma, she loved the band as well.
Today (Saturday) we did a little shopping and out for an In-and-Out burger. Grandma gave Kaeden his first french fry.
What a great time with Grandma Gibbs! Thanks for coming to play, and come back soon!

Summer can't get here fast enough...
Bit of a vent here - I can't believe this last week at school. The craziness has been brewing since February and finally blew! All week long it has been like pulling teeth to get my students to settle down, be quiet and actually work. I can't do anything to get them to turn in work, homework or classwork, I'm tired of them, they're tired of everything - it's awful.
Then yesterday there were two fights, one at lunch and one after school. Last night we were broken into, and several teachers rooms were totally trashed - windows in the doors busted out, computers smashed, personal belongings tossed. Luckily we have these little things called cameras, so we caught the vandals, but we were 20 minutes late getting started today due to glass clean up.
Then my students started acting up, too. Gum smeared across desktops, my whiteboard, laptops written upon (we're doing a project), and name calling like you wouldn't believe! These kids are just so mean to each other. I had to write dean's referrals in almost every class today just to keep fights from breaking out between kids.
I tell ya, summer can't get here fast enough!!

Mother's Day Surprises
What a great day, this Mother's Day!1 I've been waiting for this ever since Kevin and I got married, and I'm happy to say it was wonderful. Kaeden got me a card with some Diet Coke and a huge dark chocolate bar.
But the best gift came today - he can sit up all on his own! I've been trying to get him to do this for weeks now, and even yesterday at church I was balancing him, but he just wouldn't stay up. Then, when I picked him up from the sitters' there he was - all upright on his own!! Happy Mother's Day to me!!

So Lucky...
I can't help but look around me, while my son sleeps peacefully in his swing, and think that I'm truly lucky. My husband finally has a job, I have one as well, we have a roof over our heads, a car that runs, pets that love us unconditionally and the greatest little boy in the world. Wow!! What a lot to be thankful for when there's so much to complain about.
